Handpicked dry farmed organically grown grapes with nothing added - 4 weeks on skins in 2000L old oak with wild yeast fermentation. After 11 months in the barrel the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered and kept back a further 2 months before release. 2500 bottles of 2017 vintage produced.
This is a deeply complex Fetească Neagră – a speciality of Romania and Moldova. Faintly reminiscent of a Syrah from the northern Rhône this is beautifully made but with a wicked feral streak that holds the interest from the first sip to the last. Plum and cherry are complimented by dried mint and warm spice notes from the barrel ageing while the relatively high acidity keeps the wine fresh and very approachable.
Great with a juicy beef steak, grilled lamb or any rich meat dishes.
