The grapes are sourced from the Escherndorfer Lump vineyard. This is an 'Erste Lage' or 'first class' vineyard site with a steep, south-facing slope - which protects the vines from cold northern and easterly winds. This location, together with the limestone soil, creates wines with a distinctive fruit character and great longevity.
This ‘S’ Riesling starts tight and lean, tense and nervy…it’s quite exciting. Then you blink twice and the ‘exotics’ arrive, an overt marmalade tang, some lurid steely lemon and a whole lot of bare-naked peach.
Pair with lightly spiced dishes, or grilled chicken and fish.
