Henners Reserve is produced solely from grapes grown on our outstanding estate in Herstmonceux, East Sussex. The vineyard was first planted at this site in 2007. We found the unique combination of warm well drained sandstone soils, a southerly aspect slope coupled with low altitude, three miles from the sea and at just 24m above sea level. Harvest usually takes place in late September. The result is perhaps the finest vineyard microclimate in the country. We take a non-interventionist approach in the winery, made possible by the quality of the fruit. Vine clones and varieties are fermented separately to allow a broad palette of wines for final blending. A proportion is fermented in aged oak barrels to add subtle character and layers to the wine. This wine spends 36 months on its lees. and the dosage is 9g/l. 14% of the Chardonnay component (76%) is from reserve wine which adds extra complexity and flavour to the wine.
Another delightfully fresh and aromatic Henners sparkling wine. Concentrated nose with frangipane, green apple and pear with subtle bready characteristics. The palate is zesty with crisp apple and lime fruit with a fine and persistent mousse. The finish is long and very elegant with beautifully poised acidity. A seriously good wine.
An elegant aperitif wine - or fantastic accompaniment to celebrations.
