Production

Pepe Fuster makes wine from his 26ha vineyard in Terra Alta, near Tarragona in southern Catalonia. The vineyard is organically certified - with stoney limestone and clay soil, and vines grown at 500-600m altitude. A blend of Garnacha, Cariñena and Syrah - with the remaining 15% made up from Cabernet Sauvignon. A month's contact with oak staves gives a touch of vanilla and added complexity.

Tasting notes

Weighty and complex yet retaining a bright freshness characterized by blackberry and raspberry fruit and spice. The contact with French oak gives this wine a new world feel while remaining firmly and typically Spanish with the 65% old Grenache and Carinena.

Food match

Its fine, ripe tannins mean the wine can be drunk on its own but also particularly good with barbecued meats and chorizo sausage, as learnt from repeated experience!
