Production
Syrah for this Monteagrelo is sourced from a vineyard lying at 930 to 970 metres above sea level. The grapes were harvested by hand. The temperature of the fermentation was kept at 25-27ºC, and the wine was then aged in a mix of French and American oak barrels for 15 months.
Tasting notes
A rocky mountain vineyard nose of cold-brewed coffee with violet lift and fresh leather. The palate has a gently mineral texture with a muted generosity of underbrush and dried fruit with a richly satisfying structure and length.
Food match
Drink this with venison casserole, infused with red current jelly with pungent hard cheese. Other gamey dishes.
