Production
The grapes are cultivated in the vineyard closest to San Felice's cellars in Castelnuovo Berardenga - so close that the grapes are transported to the cellar by hand. The blend is primarily Sangiovese (80%) with a little Pugnitello and some other indigenous varieties added. Vinification of each variety takes place separately, in stainless steel, for around two weeks. Then the wine spends around 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks before bottling.
Tasting notes
Black fruit aromas with floral hints and spicy notes from oak ageing. The palate has bramble and fresh black cherry flavours, integrated oak characters, smooth and supple tannins and juicy acidity.
