Production
Sourced from the precipitous red slate slopes of Ürziger Würtzgarten, a prime vineyard site in the Middle Mosel. Grapes are carefully hand picked and selected, then fermented in 1000 litre oak Fuder barrels to add complexity. The wine rests for a few months on its fine lees before bottling in late spring after harvest.
Tasting notes
Pronounced Riesling petrol aromas on the nose are met by layered, spicy slate notes. The palate is quite fruity with tinned pineapple syrup and grilled pineapple and some minerality. Has the potential to age for over a decade.
Food match
Drink chilled between 8 and 10 degrees celsius. Delicious with lightly spiced Vietnamese spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken or prawns
