Abstrait Rosé, Pays d’Oc (25cl can) 2018

Boutinot France

Delicious rosé in a convenient can with a standout design. Abstrait is French for abstract, "to extract or remove something" and this pale rosé was gently extracted from black Malbec grapes..

Meet the producer

Like all good stories, Boutinot France's is both long and a little bit complicated! Boutinot began as a tiny importer in...

Boutinot have worked with these selected growers from the Languedoc for a number of years, as they provide us with grapes for red Malbecs. When harvesting the grapes for rosé the timing had to be carefully judged to allow the grapes to ripen fully, while still maintaining their fresh, zippy profile necessary for a rosé wine. Early-morning harvesting (or "the very end of the night" as winemaker Guillaume puts it), gentle handling in the winery, cool temperature controlled vinification in stainless steel gave us a delicate colour and fresh, soft berry flavours, while blocking maloctic fermentation maintains pleasant levels of acidity.

Tasting notes

Pretty pink and medium bodied. A balance of delicate aromas and juicy raspberry and succulent strawberry flavours.

Food match

Medium bodied rosé with good mouthfeel, perfect for a BBQ or pizza, or simply enjoying al-fresco on a sunny day.
