Stéphane Mureau is 8th generation vigneron with 20 hectares in the esteemed Loire commune of Savigny- en-Véron, a region he describes as the “Pomerol of Chinon”. Between the Loire and the Vienne rivers, soils are classic sandy gravel and the vines which range in age from 25 to 80 years are farmed organically (full certification was granted in 2012). The winery, which was recently refurbished to be at the forefront sustainable practices and to better accommodate organic winemaking, is also noted for the fine underground cellar, decorated with sculptures carved by local artists.
