Boutari is one of the largest producers in Greece. Founded in 1879, in Naossa by Ioannis Boutaris the company set out with the aim of producing and trading quality red wine. Fast-forward to 1906 when they produced and bottled “Naoussa Boutari” one of the first Greek red bottle PDO wines to enter the Greek market – and one of the wines we have brought into the portfolio. Today, the company owns estates in key winemaking regions throughout Greece including Mantinia, Naoussa and Goumenissa where they aim to highlight the character of region as well as that of the native grape varieties that grow there.
The Boutari group apply organic principles in their vineyards and aim to treat it as part of a bigger ecosystem where they focus on strengthening natural defenses by improving biodiversity. Their Sémeli estate in Mantinia has a state of the art, gravity fed winery which helps to reduce their power consumption.
