It was Remo Falconieri - a typewriter designer of all things (albeit the son of a farmer) - who created Azienda Agricola Cieck back in in 1985, based in San Giorgio Canavese, Piedmont, just north of Turin.
Obviously Nebbiolo is what you’d expect in Piedmont … maybe even Arneis if you’re talking whites. But from a couple thousand bottles of Metodo Classico back in the 80’s, the family now focuses on the ancient, uber native white variety of Erbaluce, bottling under the tiny - foot of the mountains - DOC of Erbaluce di Caluso.
