Founded in 1811, this is the oldest sparkling-wine house in Saumur and one of the biggest of the Loire negociants. Technological advances in winemaking are at the heart of the business; Ackerman remains strongly committed to sustainability and ecological issues and in recent years has pushed ahead with low-intervention wine production including organic viticulture and wines with no added sulphites. Originally an experiment, Ackerman's 'sans soufre' Saumur is now in permanent production and through its development, the house has learnt to reduce the quantity of sulphites it uses across its the entire portfolio.
