Wine Awards - Highlights 2024 - Boutinot

See what the judges had to say...

Its the wine awards season once again and we are are delighted to showcase some of the recent top accolades our wines have received at the various prestigious competitions so far this year. It’s a real testament to the strength of our portfolio that a full spectrum of wine styles have receive recognition too, from Grand Cru Burgundy to Pinot Grigio Rosato, Vintage Port and Fino Sherry to elegant Chilean Sparkling Wine. Huge congratulations to all the winners, of which there are many. Here are just a few of the highlights….

Domaine Berthelemot Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Blanc, AOP Corton Grand Cru [Organic] 2022

Best in Show 97 Pts – Decanter World Wine Awards

“The white wines of Corton-Charlemagne come overwhelmingly from south-west- and west-facing vineyards, coolly exposed, so often these are among the least articulate of all Burgundy’s great white Grands Crus in their youth. Not, though, in the case of this wine from the generous 2022 vintage. It’s promisingly pale, but already compelling on the nose, with subtle oak, wild hawthorne blossom and refined grape and cool citrus. It has all the controlled breadth you’d expect on the palate with more white blossom and subtle, vinous, breath-freshening fruits. The finish is long and lingering, mingling ripe, fruit-bonded acidity with a quiet pulse of ripeness. It will, of course, be better after a decade in a cool cellar, but there’s nothing to stop you enjoying the wine soon, either.”

Krohn Vintage 2017, DOC Porto (Wooden Case) NV

Best in Show 97 Pts – Decanter World Wine Awards

“The low-yielding, dramatically concentrated 2017 Port Vintage is already something of a legend, so we’re delighted to have an example of this in our Top 50 Best In Show this year. As you’d expect, the wine is still a dense and saturated midnight black in colour, with powerful aromatics of bramble, damson and sloe. It still has a perfumed quality, too, almost as if wild flowers and citrus skins had been macerated in the must. The peppery violence of just-bottled Vintage Port, by contrast, has now dissipated and the wine is beginning to seem calm. It’s splendidly thick, weighty and concentrated on the palate, with rich tannins, low acidity and medicinal, apothecary notes reminiscent of the cistus and other herbs of the Douro biotope. For those who love to age Vintage Port, this will be a mid-term bet; the tannins need to soften a little, but catch it while the very ripe brambly fruits are still opulent, prominent and flower-freighted.”

Fernando de Castilla Antique Fino, DO Jerez-Xérès-Sherry (50cl) (Gift Box) NV

Platinum 97 Pts – Decanter World Wine Awards

“Immaculately conceived bestowing layer upon layer of seasalt, crushed walnuts and wood smoke over the glossy, generously textured palate. Polished and refined, long and inspiring, this gem of a wine demands time for reflection and contemplation.”

Terrazze della Luna Pinot Grigio Rosato, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGP 2023

Gold – Global Rosé Masters 2024 *Drinks Business

“How refreshing to find a fine, good-value, pale pink, dry rosé that isn’t from France. Using mostly Pinot Grigio, but also a touch of Chardonnay, this Italian wine has delicate characters of peach and pear fruit, some cherry and a touch of white pepper too. Light, but not thin, with a fresh finish. Patrick Schmitt MW”
