Review Round-up (Sept-Oct 2018)
It’s been a great month for our wines in the press, with a number of them receiving some great comments from the heavy-hitters of the wine world. To save you the effort of scouring the pages of the wine press, we’ve pulled it all together for you in one place! Here’s what they’re saying about our wines:
Valsotillo Crianza, 2015 // “Showing a clean nose and up-front fruit with a spicy background, the 2015 Valsotillo Crianza seems to be getting closer to the classical profile of the wines from yesteryear. It has rustic elegance and personality … 90 points.” Luis Gutiérrez, RobertParker.com (31st August 2018)
Xestal Mencia, 2011 // “Quite plush and smooth with ripe dark plums, blackberries and violets. This has seductive, silky appeal with smooth tannins delivering fresh, rich berry flavour. Drink or hold. 91 points.” JamesSuckling.com
Capricho Godello, 2017 // “Peaches, ripe stone-fruit and some melon here. The palate has chalky, crunchy and sweetly flavoured fruit presence. Drink now. 91 points.” JamesSuckling.com *2016 currently in UK stock, but 2017 shortly on its way!
Nieto Senetiner Malbec, 2017 // “Black fruit, mint, lavender, floral notes and violets. This is a fantastic wine to drink young; delicious and balanced, with crunchy, fresh fruit. What a beauty!” Paz Levinson, Sommelier (Decanter, ‘Great value Malbec from Argentina’ – October 2018)
Pablo Y Walter Malbec, 2017 // “Ripe, but refreshing and easy to drink; this is light and fruity.” Patricio Tapia, author of the annual Descorchados guide to South America (Decanter, ‘Great value Malbec from Argentina’ – October 2018)
Cadus Signature Series Criolla, 2017 // “Made for the first time in 2017 from a pergola vineyard planted in 1946, this thrilling Criolla is spicy, peppery and scented with rose petals, with summer pudding flavours and good underlying grip.” Tim Atkin MW (Decanter ‘The New Generation’ – October 2018)
Bressia, Monteagrelo Cabernet Franc, 2015 // “Intensely perfumed nose of juicy forest fruit, violet and black pepper. This is cool-climate in style, with beautifully sophisticated tannins tapering to a tantalising savoury twist on the finish. 91 points.” (Decanter, South American Cabernet Franc Panel Tasting, October 2018)
Tabalí, Talinay Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, 2017 // “Going beyond merely fruit, this wine seems to be made of chalk. Its mineral, austere flavours reflect the calcareous soil of the Talinay vineyard, and the sharp force of the acidity reflects the nearby presence of the cold Pacific ocean. 94 Points.” Patricio Tapia, author of the annual Descorchados guide to South America (Decanter, Chilean Sauvingon Blanc Panel Tasting – October 2018)
