We truly believe our wines are fantastic, but you already knew that – we wouldn’t sell them if we didn’t! That said, it is always nice when someone else comes along and recognises the quality in our portfolio, even better when they write a lovely review in the press to tell everyone about it… Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been saying about us this last month!

Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose 2014: ” …is understated and delicate. Black cherry, leather, sage , liquorice, menthol and dried herb are all woven together in a mid-weight Barolo that is vivid and expressive. The 2014 is at times a bit fleeting, so I would prefer to drink it on the earlier side. 92 points (drinking window 2019-34).”

Antonio Galloni, Vinous (November 2018)

The following reviews are all from James Suckling’s article: ‘Southern Italy and Sardinia deliver some top quality this year’ (22nd October, 2018):

Villa Raiano Greco di Tufo Contrada Marotta 2015:

A sophisticated wine with plenty of smoky complexity for the greco grape. In spite of the concentration, this remains rather sleek and very elegant. At three years of age, this is just beginning to open up at the long finish. Drink or hold. 93 points.”

Villa Raiano Greco di Tufo 2017:

“.”This greco is ripe, but well structured and full of discreet, citrus and herb flavours. Pronounced minerality drives the very long finish. 92 points

Villa Raiano Taurasi 2013:

Very fresh for five years of age, this has plenty of elderberry aromas and some meaty character, too. The fresh acidity really helps to keep this full-bodied and rather tannic red bright through the long, dry finish. Drink or hold. 92 points.”

Feudo Maccari ‘Neré’ Nero d’Avola 2017 (now in stock, ‘though some 2016 still to sell through):

Vivid and bright aromas of blackberries, blueberries and flowers. Medium to full body, light tannins and a tangy finish. Delicious. Drink now. 91 points.”

Feudo Maccari ‘Olli’ Grillo 2017:

A crisp, medium-weight grillo with plenty of lemon-zest character and a touch of salty minerality at the finish. Drink now. 90 points.”

Villa Raiano Fiano di Avellino 2017:

Lots of sliced pears and hints of peaches. Juicy and crisp, in spite of being quite full-bodied, and very well balanced at the finish. Drink now. 90 points.”

Nicosia Etna Bianco Vulkà 2017:

This offers up yellow apples, mango pie and dried honeysuckle. Full and oily on the palate with some good fruit. A touch more acidity would have made this outstanding. A blend of carricante and catarratto. Drink now. 89 points.
