We truly believe our wines are fantastic, but you already knew that – we wouldn’t sell them if we didn’t! That said, it is always nice when someone else comes along and recognises the quality in our portfolio, even better when they write a lovely review in the press to tell everyone about it… Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been saying about us this last month!

ITALY

San Felice Chianti Classico 2016:

” …fresh, nuanced and very pretty. Floral and spiced notes lift the red cherry fruit nicely in this mid-weight, gracious Chianti Classico. I very much like the precision here.” 90 points

Antonio Galloni, Vinous (February 2019)

San Felice Chianti Classico 2017

Lustrous ruby. Herbal cherry nose and lifted sour-cherry fruit palate. A little constructed but not lacking in either freshness or fruit.” 15.5/20.

Walter Speller, www.jancisrobinson.com (February 2019)

San Felice Chianti Classico Gran Selezione ‘Il Grigio’ 2014:

The cooler growing season has brought out a whole range of floral/herbal notes that play off the Sangiovese fruit nicely. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2014 packs more than enough punch to drink well for at least a number of years.92 points

SPAIN

From Josh Raynolds in Vinous (February 2019):

Valenciso Reserva Rioja 2009 (*magnums in UK stock): “Aromas of ripe red berries and cherry on the pungent nose, along with suggestions of musky earth, tobacco and mocha. Sweet and broad on the palate, showing the richness of the year in its lush, broad raspberry and cherry liqueur flavours. Finishes on a sappy note, with building spiciness, lingering cherry character and sneaky tannins that add gentle final grip.93 points

Valenciso Reserva Rioja 2011: “Smoke-tinged aromas of candied cherry and singed plum, along with building vanilla and espresso accents. Juicy and supple on the palate, offering concentrated and appealingly sweet red and blue fruit and spicecake flavours that deepen slowly on the back half. Harmonious tannins add shape and gentle grip to the finish, which hangs on with strong, floral- and spice-tinged persistence.” 92 points

Valenciso 10 Años Después 2007: “Powerful, oak-spiced red/blue fruit aromas pick up mocha, cola and vanilla accents with air. Lush and seamless on the palate, showing strong spicy thrust to its cherry-vanilla, boysenberry, rose pastille and spicecake flavours. Stains the palate and shows impressive depth of flavours, with no excess weight. Finishes sweet, supple and very long, with discreet tannins and a repeating blue fruit note.” 93 points

USA

Giornata Fiano 2018:

“Just bottled. Really very winning. Peachy nose but not remotely sickly or specious. Good acidity. Edgy acidity is well integrated into the fruit. Some delicacy. One of the best Fianos I have come across.” 17/20.

NEW ZEALAND

Super Nanny Pinot Noir 2017:

“A parcel selection is made each year for this wine, and Clone 5 Pinot grown in Bannockburn is often a winner. It’s generally picked later than the rest of the estate, and sees 40% new oak. The result is a fleshy yet elegant style with real chalkiness, spicy oak and blackberry fruits lingering on the fresh, fragrant, medium-long finish.” 92 points
