Review Round-up (June '21) - Boutinot

What's been said about our wines...

We truly believe our wines are fantastic, but you already knew that – we wouldn’t sell them if we didn’t!

That said, it is always nice when someone else recognises the quality in our portfolio, even better when they write a lovely review in the press to tell everyone about it…

Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been saying about us this last month!

Marchesi di Gresy Langhe Chardonnay 2018: ” … fragrant and fresh, with aromas of orchard fruit, creamy honey and apple that can be mistaken for nothing else but oak-aged Chardonnay. The wine is softly pliant with a medium-rich texture that feels especially silky and smooth to the palate. This wine hits all the right pleasure spots and is a joy to drink. All that fruit is framed by delicate tones of mineral and spice. 91 points.” Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate (17th June ’21)

Alpha Box & Dice ‘Golden Mullet Fury’ Semillon, McLaren Vale 2019: “A fragrant and gently nutty nose that shows lemon grass and dried apricot. The palate is taut and dry, quite crisp and smoothly honed. 91 pts.” (15th June ’21)

Krohn Colheita 1999: “Bright orangey brown. Deep and sweet aromas of orange and dried and caramelised fruits. The alcohol a little bit more obvious in aroma than in the previous two wines. Firm, spicy and intense. Not as subtle, a little more fiery, with intense flavours of dried mixed peel and Christmas spices. Very fresh even with all this sweetness. Full and a little viscous on the finish. Drink 2010 – 2030. 17/20.” Julia Harding, (10th June ’21)

Prà Monte Grande Soave Classico 2019: “Lovely aromas of honeyed pear, gooseberry and white cherry with a hint of sweet butter biscuit. Turns to rich pineapple on the medium palate. Intense, lightly spiced fruit flavours drive the very long finish. Classy. 93pts.” (22nd June ’21)

Prà Soave ‘Otto’ 2020: “Nicely balanced and very tasty white with aromas and flavours of lemon, pineapple and peach. Creamy mineral notes and a tinge of herb, too. Medium-bodied with a fresh, relaxed feel and a pleasant, lemon-cream and pineapple finish. Very refined feel. 93pts.” (22nd June ’21)

San Felice Poggio Rosso Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2016: “From a parcel originally planted in the 1970s with selected Sangiovese clones. Appropriately developing in its aroma profile, this doles out tobacco, bay leaf, leather, dried thyme and a suggestion of chestnut. The palate is bright with sour cherry, tart redcurrant, and a kick of tangy acidity. The tannins are compact and dense – still quite chewy, this could do with another year or so in the cellar. If opening now, serve alongside some grilled meat. 91pts.” Michaela Morris, Decanter (June 2021)
