What's been said about our wines...

We truly believe our wines are fantastic, but you already knew that – we wouldn’t sell them if we didn’t!

That said, it is always nice when someone else recognises the quality in our portfolio, even better when they write a lovely review in the press to tell everyone about it…

Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been saying about us this last month!


 

Dominio de Atauta 2017: ” …is a blend of their different terroirs from the Atauta Valley, mostly north-facing vineyards with clay-rich soils. It shows the character of the place and is a wine that fills your palate and has good depth and keeps the freshness (clay helps there), where they look for the character of the limestone mother rock. It has a ripe red-fruit profile with an élevage in oak barrels with a change since 2016, as they use a lot less new oak (around 15% to 20% instead of 50%). It combines power and elegance and showcases the cooler part of Ribera del Duero even in a slightly warmer and drier year. Here, the frost that decimated other parts of Ribera del Duero didn’t touch the Atauta Valley. 93 pts.” Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate (30th June 2021)

 

Parada de Atauta 2017: “I was pretty amazed tasting the 2017 Parada de Atauta next to the 2018, as the two vintages do not follow the path of the wines from zones that were hit by the April frost in Ribera del Duero, which was not the case here. The cycle of the vine is slower here since it’s colder, and when frost happened, the plants were still dormant, so 2017 was a normal year. Despite the analytical data, which was very similar to the 2018, this wine feels fresher and finer, with more red fruit and finer tannins and very integrated oak despite having used some 20% new barrels for the élevage. 92+pts.” Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate (30th June 2021)

 

Adorado de Menade NV: “As is often the case with non-vintage wines, there is no indication on the labels of the NV Adorado to tell it apart from previous bottlings. It’s a fantastic oxidative blend of Verdejo and Palomino fortified to 17% alcohol and matured in a solera that dates from 1967. It had some flor yeast and has a biological profile with an oxidative and volatile touch, more line an Amontillado and with a dry finish and a salty touch. 93 pts.” Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate (30th June 2021)

 

Menade Nosso 2020: “The 2020 Nosso, a Verdejo produced without added sulphites, shows a tender and primary profile with clean aromas and flavours and a tasty and vibrant palate. 91 pts.” Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate (30th June 2021)

 

Menade La Misión 2017: “I think I got another bottle of the 2017 La Misión that I tasted last time and was glad to see a good evolution in bottle, taking more varietal character and absorbing the oak nicely. The palate is serious and balanced, with good freshness and a supple and dry finish. 91pts.” Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate (30th June 2021)

 

Borsao Selección Rosado 2020: “Refreshing, with layers of ripe strawberry and vanilla. It’s finely balanced, lightly jammy, and comes with enough alcohol to encourage a siesta. Eminently drinkable, with or without food. Good value. Highly Recommended – 90 pts.” Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter (7th July 2021)
