What's been said about our wines...
We truly believe our wines are fantastic, but you already knew that – we wouldn’t sell them if we didn’t!
That said, it is always nice when someone else recognises the quality in our portfolio, even better when they write a lovely review in the press to tell everyone about it…
Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been saying about us this last month!
Valenciso 10 Años Después 2011: “This ten-year release is sourced from vineyards at around 500 metres of altitude in Ollauri, close to the bodega. Aged in older Russian wood, it boasts flavours of spicy red fruits, good concentration and some balsamic, bottle-aged undertones.” 92 pts – Tim Atkin MW ‘Rioja 2022 Special Report’ (February ‘22)
Queirón de Gabriel Reserva, Viñedos Familiares 2011: “Savoury nose of leather and tobacco. Creamy and polished, quite classic, with a spicy note on the finish.” Highly Recommended – 93pts. Decanter (March 2022)
Valenciso Cemento Rioja 2018: “Lovely nose showing purity of fruit, blueberry, red berries, blackberries and mocha. Elegant and subtle with polished tannins and a savoury finish.” Highly Recommended – 92 pts. Decanter (March 2022)
Queirón Mi Lugar Vino de Quel, Rioja 2018: “Smoky nose with notes of red pepper, plum compote, dark chocolate and spices. This has serious structure.” Highly Recommended – 90pts. Decanter (March 2022)
Gómez Cruzado Pancrudo Rioja (Atlantic Garnacha) 2019: “Pancrudo has played an important role in the renaissance of Garnacha in Rioja. Made with fruit from old vines grown on north-facing red clay soils at 650 metres in Badarán, the 2019 has lovely focus and patrician elegance, with serious underlying tannins, stylish 66% new wood, stony reduction and vibrant plum and red cherry fruit.” 96pts Tim Atkin MW ‘Rioja 2022 Special Report’ (February ‘22)
Gómez Cruzado Rioja Blanco 2 Año 2019: “David González blends Viura with 25% Tempranillo Blanco to make this cement and barrel-aged white from the Rioja Alavesa and the area around Haro. Tangy, fresh and focused, with subtle oak, a hint of flinty reduction and flavours of lemongrass and white peach.” 92pts Tim Atkin MW ‘Rioja 2022 Special Report’ (February ‘22)
Línea Kármán Rioja Tinto 2020*: “The idea here, according to David González, is to show the freshness of the area around Badarán. Partnering Garnacha with 12% Tempranillo, it’s an unoaked style with juicy berry fruit, tangy acidity and a hint of subtle reduction. Eminently quaffable” 90pts Tim Atkin MW ‘Rioja 2022 Special Report’ (February ‘22)

Ontañón Rioja Gran Reserva 2010: “Mature integrated nose belies the youthful, if not particularly dark colour. Palate is a perfect blend of gentle fruit and sweet oak.” Decanter (March 2022) – selected as one of the 48 ‘Ultimate Rioja’ wines to be shown at this Wines of Rioja trade tasting on 3rd March ’22.
Tres Picos Garnacha 2019: “The wine is rich, with a raisined edge, comprising dominant fruit flavours of dark cherry, wild strawberry and ripe plums, combined with notes of vanilla cream followed by a warming alcoholic sensation and then a dry, finely tannic finish. It’s a powerful wine, but not unbalanced, and provides a lot of personality for a relatively small outlay” Patrick Schmitt, The Drinks Business (Global Grenache Masters 2021 – tasted / judged December 2021)
Naia Verdejo 2020: “Bay leaf and grapefruit notes with floral and peach notes. Citrussy on the palate with a long saline finish.” 91pts Decanter (March 2022)
Diez Siglos Rueda Verdejo 2020: “An expressive nose of lime, green herbs and honeyed citrus. The palate is rich and smooth, with a vibrant, racy acidity.” 90pts Decanter (March 2022)
