What's been said about our wines...

We truly believe our wines are fantastic, but you already knew that – we wouldn’t sell them if we didn’t!

That said, it is always nice when someone else recognises the quality in our portfolio, even better when they write a lovely review in the press to tell everyone about it…

Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been saying about us this last month!

Prà Monte Grande Soave Classico, Italy, 2020: “Vibrant and mineral, it’s full of lemongrass, wax, seaweed and lemon candy with a peaty depth and hints of noble rot. The wine is concentrated, acidic at first then wrapped up in a woven structure, with a youthful, biting finish – a palate that defies time. Impressive price-to-quality-ratio. From 40-year-old vines on volcanic soil, this is a blend of slightly late-harvested Garganega, with Trebbiano intended to preserve the acidity. Both grapes are fermented in 30hl Allier oak vessels and aged for 12 months on the lees.” 94Pts, Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter Magazine (April 2023)

Pequeñas Fermentaciones Naranjo Torrontes/Moscatel, Argentina, 2022: “El Porvenir is experimenting with Salta’s possibilities with its Pequeñas Fermentaciones range. Here the blend is Torrontés and Moscatel, fermented in concrete eggs in contact with the skins. There’s a pretty floral dimension to the wine but it’s the pithy grapefruit notes that really hit home.” The Wine Merchant magazine (Issue 123 April 2023)

Ontañón Vetiver Rioja Blanco, Spain, 2019: “Brilliant value for white Rioja. At its heart there are golden plums and white pear, and lift of lime zest, overlaid by creamy, fine oak (from the four months ageing). Plump and full bodied. Quite opulent.” 91pts. Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter Magazine (April 2023)

Poderi Colla, Drago, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Piedmont, Italy, 2020: “Vibrant floral aromas mingle with an intense red and black fruit medley. The palate is fresh with crunchy red fruit and hints of dark chocolate and wildflowers. Concentrated, with structured tannins and racy freshness.” 91pts. Nebbiolos of the world: Panel tasting, Decanter Magazine (April 2023)

Giornata, Nebbiolo, Paso Robles, California, USA, 2018: “Concentrated, aromatic nose of dried raisin, stewed fruit and sweet spice. The palate is layered with sweet vanilla oak, racy acidity and grippy tannins. Pleasantly long on the finish.” 90pts. Decanter Magazine (March 2023)

Tenuta Il Cascinone, Avamposti Altrove Nebbiolo, Monferrato, Italy, 2019: “Graceful, elegant and inviting with aromas of raspberries, cherries and floral notes. Excellent concentration with a fresh, savoury and lingering finish.” 90pts. Decanter Magazine (March 2023)

Here & There Malbec, Swartland, South Africa, 2022: “South Africa famously produces wines that are great value for money, and Boutinot’s own Cape range seems crazily inexpensive, even by those standards. This one, from Swartland, is the definitive crowd pleaser, with its bright, juicy red berry fruit and spicy seasoning, There’s depth and complexity for those that take the time to look for it, but really this is all about pleasure.” The Wine Merchant magazine (Issue 124 May 2023)
