What's been said about our wines...

We truly believe our wines are fantastic, but you already knew that – we wouldn’t sell them if we didn’t!

That said, it is always nice when someone else recognises the quality in our portfolio, even better when they write a lovely review in the press to tell everyone about it…

Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been saying about us this last month!

Tabalí Pedregoso Pinot Noir Rosé 2020: “Made with early-picked Pinot Noir from Tabalí’s Espinal vineyard selected especially to make a rosé. Slowly and gently whole bunch pressed to extract just a hint of colour, it’s a graceful, detailed, complex wine with no oak influence but lots of pomegranate, redcurrant and watermelon fruit.” Rosé of the Year – 93 Points (Tim Atkin Chile Special Report 2021)

Super Nanny Pinot Noir 2019: “Taut, elegant, high energy pinot noir with bright dark cherry, dark berry, red rose, spice, anise and nutty oak flavours. Needs cellaring.” (Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, 12th March 2021)

San Felice Il Grigio Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2016: “Classic varietal aromas recalling underbrush, blue flower, wild berry and crushed aromatic herb form the nose. Savoury and smooth, the elegantly structured palate features juicy black cherry, cassis, dark culinary spice and tobacco alongside taut refined tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2022–2036.” Cellar Selection / 95 pts. Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast (12th March 2021)

San Felice Poggio Rosso Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2016: “…shows a saturated appearance with dark garnet and ruby colours. Following that beautiful appearance in the glass, the wine opens to cassis, wild cherry, spice and toasted wood. The oak element is an important component of the mouthfeel that shows solid, mid-weight heft and long, polished tannins that would be a nice accompaniment to a filet mignon.” 94 pts. Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate (April 2021)

San Felice Il Grigio Chianti Classico Riserva 2017: “This is a highly celebrated and appreciated Sangiovese enjoyed all across Tuscany and far beyond… packed tight with hot vintage fruit ranging from wild cherry and cassis, to blackberry and plum. In between the red and the purple fruits are subtle hints of cured tobacco, crushed flowers and warm earth. This is a versatile and extremely food-friendly bottle offered at a great price for what it represents.” 92 pts. Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate (April 2021)

Domaine de Lathevalle, les Charmes, Morgon, Beaujolais, 2018: “Appealing, smooth-textured, cool dark berry and currant notes on the palate. This Morgon has a great balance between fruit sweetness, acidity and a core of dark earthy notes with some fine tannins to add a little more structure. Drink 2021-2024”. 89 Points, Andy Howard MW, Decanter Magazine, April 2021.

Henners Brut NV: “Wheat crackers, vanilla seeds, citrus and a hint of red apple on the nose, with a classy, intense palate of brioche, yeasts, green apple and citrus fruits. The mouth-smacking acidity cut through the creamy texture, leading to a long, cereal-scented finish.” 93 Points/Highly Recommended, Sylvia Wu, Decanter Magazine, April 2021.

Emiliana Coyam 2018: “Given the price of some Chilean icons these days, Coyam remains one of the best value reds in the country, right up there with the country’s top red blends. Based on Syrah and Carmenère with the remaining 19% made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Malbec, Carignan, Tempranillo and Mourvèdre, this is wonderfully detailed and complex. Racy and mineral, with scented oak, mint, wild herb and sweet spice undertones and a core of inky
damson and black cherry fruit.” 96 Points (Tim Atkin Chile Special Report 2021)

Granbazán Don Álvaro de Bazán Albariño 2015: “Delicate pain d’epices and minty notes. A lovely creamy texture, slightly waxy, lemon sherbet, with a powerful long finish.” 93 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

Granbazán Etiqueta Ambar Albariño 2019: “Smoky mezcal and lime on nose. The palate is very elegant with fresh acidity and attractive salinity. A mineral, textural wine.” 92 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

Menade La Misión (Pre-phylloxera Organic Verdeja) 2017: “Slightly flinty, smokey character. Well balanced wine with some fresh lemon and a mineral finish.” 92 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

Ontañón Vetiver Rioja Blanco 2018: “Some attractive balsamic and thyme notes on nose. Supple palate and a fresh acidity with gold plums, yellow apples and a limey finish. The oak gives an attractive sweetness and volume to the wine.” 92 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

La Val Finca Arantei Albariño 2019: “Stone fruit, aniseed and herbal notes. Quite rich and full bodied with some clotted cream aromas on the palate.” 90 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

El Jardín de Lucía Albariño, Rías Baixas 2019: “Vivid zesty palate with tropical fruits including lychee, passionfruit, pineapple and a long fresh minty finish.” 90 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

Naiades Verdejo (barrel fermented) 2016: “Caramel, nutty, buttery oak on the nose. A peppery texture on the palate. Rich and creamy with a lime backbone and mineral. Fresh and flinty finish.” 90 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

Naia Verdejo 2018 *UK stock now 2019: “Balanced fresh and fruity. Well structured palate with some yellow apple and quince followed by a warm spicy finish.” 90 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

Mas Macià Xarel-lo 2019: “A subdued but elegant nose with delicate white floral notes. A more mineral wine with powdery and stoney texture. Attractive almond, lemon, and green apple notes.” 90 pts / Highly Recommended, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter magazine (May 2021)

Cadus Single Vineyard ‘Finca Las Torcazas’ Malbec 2016: “One of Argentina’s most promising winemakers of the new generation, Santiago Mayorga shows his interpretation of Luján with this silky Malbec filled with plum notes and an aromatic, fresh finish.” 93 pts/Highly Recommended, Amanda Barnes – Decanter Magazine (May 2021)

Henners Native Grace NV: “Made with 100% Chardonnay, this wine is therefore a ‘Blanc de Blanc’, and has lemon drizzle cake and elderflower aromas on the nose, with additional crunchy green apple flavours on the palate.” Aleesha Hansel, Red Magazine ‘Expensive wine for a post-lockdown celebration’ (April 2021)
