Discover our new Field Blend Wines
While field blends are rooted in tradition, they have experienced a resurgence in modern winemaking as consumers and winemakers alike seek out more authentic and terroir-driven expressions in their wines. Unlike conventional wine blends, field blend wines are made by harvesting all grapes, of all varieties present in a single plot, or even in a whole vineyard, and typically co-fermenting them. In regions like Tierra del Vino de Zamora, this traditional method saw historic owners effectively blending their wines in the field when they planted the original vines.
Introducing “The Field Blend Collection” from Bodega Viñas del Cénit
Three new wines in our portfolio, “The Field Blend Collection” from Bodega Viñas del Cénit encompass this traditional and unconventional winemaking, harvesting from Organic vineyards, some planted over 100 years ago. The vineyards and winery are located in Zamora, on the Duero river in between Valladolid and the Portuguese border. There are three wines in the range, a White and two Reds. The White ‘Las Contiesas’ is a textured and elegant style of white wine, with struck match/mineral characters. The ‘Tradicion’ is a lighter style of red, almost a deep rosé in colour, very fine, complex and precise. The ‘Bonales’ has more colour and tannin but is still really elegant.
