We can’t think of a better way to celebrate English Wine Week than popping open a bottle of award winning fizz from Henners!
Pale in colour with a persistent mousse, the nose is intense showing lovely autolysis. The mousse is soft and the brioche, almond and soft fruit characters, coupled with a creamy texture provide a wonderful depth of flavour. The balance between the fruit and autolysis characters is fine. This is a very “complete” wine with a lingering finish (IWSC Judges Comments, Henners Brut Reserve)
Based just 4 miles from the sea in Herstmonceux, East Sussex, the 10 acre vineyard is planted on a bed of well drained sandstone soil, which in days gone by would have been a beach. The microclimate created by the proximity of the sea, the low altitude of the vineyard, and the steep sunny south facing slopes create ideal growing conditions for the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Created by Lawrence Warr, an ex Formula One engineer, Henners has been distributed by Boutinot since the first vintage in 2012. In 2017 Henners became a part of the Made by Boutinot portfolio, with the purchase of the Estate.
EHN003 – Henners Brut Reserve
Concentrated nose with frangipane, vanilla and pear. The palate is biscuity and honeyed with a fine, persistent creamy mousse. The finish is long and very elegant with beautifully poised acidity.
EHN005 – Henners Brut Rosé
Beautifully fresh and characterful red fruit nose and palate with cranberry, strawberry and morello cherry. Balanced acidity and a lively mousse.
EHN001 – Henners Brut
Sour dough aromas combine with crunchy green apple fruit to provide a wonderfully welcoming nose. The palate is fine with a lively and persistent mousse. Green apple and pear fruit characters mix with a toasted brioche leesy flavour helping to provide a complex and more-ish palate. Balanced acidity and a long finish make this a very classy sparkling wine.
With a haul of gold awards, these stunning sparklers are the perfect way to raise a glass to English Wine Week!
